Diamond-shaped coin
Quoted from Canadian Mint
There's no better way to celebrate the beauty of Canadian diamonds than with a diamond-shaped coin. This is the first time such a unique, full-scale gold coin has been minted. It's an engineering feat that has been in development for over a year!
This is Canada's first solid gold diamond coin, and its creation took over a year using state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. The diamond-within-a-diamond masterpiece is the ultimate tribute to the splendor of Canadian gemstones, cut with unparalleled consistency and precision – specifically, the 0.2-carat Forevermark Black Label diamond set on one of the coin's engraved faces, crafted from solid gold.
With only 99 coins available worldwide, this is an extremely limited opportunity to own such a memorable piece. Achieving the correct shape, size, and angles was a monumental task. Every step of the process, from striking to shipping, underwent rigorous testing. The coin's shape and multifaceted design are an exact replica of the Forevemark Black Label square diamond.
It was one of the last diamonds mined at the Victor mine in northern Ontario. On the other sides of the crown, the year “2020”, the word “Canada”, and the face value “$500” surround the engraved face on the table, which features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II.
Also issued were 700 copies of a commemorative diamond-shaped $50 coin in pure silver (.999) (with a 0.2 carat diamond weighing 92.5 grams irregular shape (diamond, 21.2 x 30.8 x 30.8 mm)
