Modern Coins

Not all that glitters is gold... or even silver!!

The Sultan Fuad riyal is a decent counterfeit, but the Arabic script, especially on the back (which bears the nominal value of the piece), appears thinner than that found on the piastre, shilling, and two piastres of the same issue.

The piece has a weight and diameter proportionate to the Egyptian royal riyals (28 grams and a diameter of 39.5 mm), and the chain is very similar to the chain of pieces issued in 1917 by the Heaton Mint, but there are some differences.

The piece has artificial colors in a naive way, as it does not follow the spectrum that appears naturally on silver pieces - this particular artificial spectrum was created through a chemical reaction with the metal.
