High Security Banknotes Award 2022

The Qatar Central Bank and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates were awarded the Regional High Security Banknote Awards and the ID Card of the Year at the High Security Print EMEA event held in Abu Dhabi on March 8, 2023. Their new banknote designs were praised for their elegant, modern look and security features.

22 Qatari Riyals

The Qatari commemorative banknotes were awarded the prize for “Best new commemorative banknote”"Through the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar banknotes, 22 Qatari Riyals. This banknote was designed by De La Rue In close collaboration with the Qatar Central Bank, it was printed on SAFEGUARD® paper and the ARGENTUM™ mark. It is also the first polymer paper issued by the Qatar Central Bank.

1000 UAE Dirhams

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates won the award.“Best new banknote”Regarding the new 1,000 dirham polymer banknote, which was unveiled in 2022, this note was designed by the Central Bank and printed by Oumolat (a currency printing security company) on SAFEGUARD®. It is the fourth polymer banknote issued by the Central Bank of the UAE, in line with the Central Bank's adoption of sustainable practices and growth.
