Ali bin Rashamouj
This dinar, dated 344 AH, is a mystery in Islamic coinage.
First: Ali bin Rashamouj is unknown and has not been mentioned in any historical reference.
Secondly: There is no mention of any Abbasid or Fatimid caliph on the dinar.
Third: The city of Al-Sik is unknown and incomprehensible.
However, we can see some signs that indicate some information:
Firstly, the Shiite traditions and the style of the dinar closely resemble the coins of the Alawites of Mazandaran or Tabaristan. This indicates that the dinar was minted in or around this region, and that the historical period is close to that of the Alawites of Mazandaran.
Secondly: The name of one of the leaders, Rashamuj, was mentioned in the book History of Tabaristan during his fight against the young Da’i al-Hasan ibn al-Qasim in the year 310 AH, which makes us think that Ali is the son of this leader.
