Kuwaiti National Day Coins

The Central Bank of Kuwait issues commemorative coins to celebrate national holidays and the issuance of Kuwaiti currency.

As part of the celebrations of the sixtieth anniversary of the independence of the State of Kuwait and the thirtieth anniversary of liberation, and as this year also marks sixty years since the issuance and circulation of Kuwaiti currency, the Central Bank of Kuwait issued three commemorative coins to celebrate these occasions.

This came in a statement by the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Al-Hashel, in which he indicated that the Central Bank of Kuwait has been issuing commemorative coins to commemorate important historical occasions and the stages that witnessed developments in the country’s progress, stressing that the issuance of the three coins comes within this framework, and reflects the Central Bank of Kuwait’s continued keenness to participate in national celebrations and commemorate them through special coins and issues.

The Governor pointed out that the Central Bank of Kuwait, through issuing the two commemorative coins on the occasion of the national holidays, seeks to embody the country’s independence, freedom and sovereignty, and to remind us of the spirit of cooperation and cohesion that the Kuwaiti people have always enjoyed, which are the values that we draw inspiration from from those occasions and carry forward into the future.

In the same context, Dr. Al-Hashel touched on the special occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the introduction of the Kuwaiti dinar into circulation, as the Central Bank of Kuwait continues its consistent approach, which it has followed throughout the past decades, in strengthening the strength and stability of the national currency, thanks to the exchange rate policy linked to a weighted basket of currencies of the most important countries that have close economic and trade relations with Kuwait, which enhances monetary stability in the country, which in turn is a fundamental pillar of economic stability, and a constant of the prudent monetary policy applied by the Central Bank of Kuwait.

The governor explained that the three commemorative coins have designs that reflect the spirit of the national occasions they embody, and all of these coins are made of pure silver plated with gold according to international standards followed in this regard. Those who wish to purchase them can do so from the banking hall at the Central Bank of Kuwait, taking into account booking an appointment to attend via the “Mata” platform.

In conclusion, the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait, Dr. Mohammad Yousef Al-Hashel, expressed his pride in the Central Bank's issuance of these commemorative coins, which embody significant occasions in the hearts of every Kuwaiti citizen and pivotal moments in the history of the State of Kuwait.
