Year of preparation for the fiftieth
The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award have issued commemorative silver coins to celebrate the «Year of the Fiftieth» and the tenth anniversary of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award.
The Central Bank issued 1000 silver coins, each weighing 40 grams. The issuance of the commemorative coin comes as part of the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of the United Arab Emirates.The new coin weighs 250 grams, and the front will feature a drawing of the Qasr Al Watan (National Palace) surrounded by the dates 1971-2021, the name of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in Arabic and English, and the state emblem. The reverse side will include the 50th anniversary logo and the face value of 500 dirhams, surrounded by the name of the Central Bank of the UAE in both Arabic and English. The commemorative coin will not be available for sale at the Central Bank's headquarters and branches.
On this occasion, Khalid Mohammed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank, stated: «The Central Bank is keen to keep pace with achievements and commemorate pioneering initiatives in the country, through the issuance of commemorative coins that celebrate successes achieved in all fields, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, which reflects the attention that the wise leadership gives to creativity and creators, in addition to embodying its ambitious vision of the need to build a creative and innovative society to achieve excellence and global leadership.».
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, one of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, affirmed that the award has achieved many of its goals during the first ten cycles, following the approach of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and patron of the award, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the award, to support and honor creative individuals and develop Arab sports by establishing a culture of creativity in sports work and empowering societies through sports.
