Two commemorative silver coins marking the 50th National Day
Quoted from Bank Central Omani
The Central Bank of Oman issued two commemorative silver coins to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Oman’s modern renaissance, in recognition of the cultural legacy of the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur – may God rest his soul – and to embody the renewed renaissance led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq – may God protect and preserve him – to complete the journey of building and development.
One of the coins bears a profile picture of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said – may God protect and preserve him – while the other coin bears a profile picture of both the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur – may God have mercy on him – and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said – may God protect and preserve him.
The Central Bank of Oman clarified that the face value of each commemorative silver coin is one Omani Rial. The silver purity is 0.999, the coin has a diameter of 38.61 mm, weighs 28.28 grams, and was minted in 2020. The selling price is 25 Omani Rials for a single coin and 50 Omani Rials for a set of two coins. However, this price is subject to change based on fluctuations in global silver prices.
It is worth noting that these commemorative coins are legal tender at their face value and can be purchased from the Central Bank of Oman starting from November 29, 2020.
