Plastic money that withstands abuse

In recent days, Egyptian newspapers and some official websites have reported on the Central Bank of Egypt's preparations to print and release polymer banknotes. However, a report published in Al-Ahram newspaper on November 23, 2001—nearly 19 years ago—reveals that Ali Najm, the former governor of the Central Bank, stated that it was an experiment worthy of study. He asserted, however, that it couldn't be implemented nationwide in Egypt due to certain technical factors, which have undoubtedly become less influential over the years. We hope these plastic banknotes will soon see the light of day in collectors' albums, featuring distinctive designs, and that this isn't just a media hype. The image below provides further details of the report.
