The Central Bank of Oman is pleased to announce the issuance of a new series of coins in denominations of 50, 25, 10, and 5 baisa, which will enter circulation next month. The Central Bank of Oman has also issued a commemorative coin set, available for purchase for one Omani Rial starting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19, 2020, with the specifications detailed below:

The front of the coins bears the following:

  • The name of His Majesty Sultan (Haitham bin Tariq), may God protect and preserve him.
  • The national emblem.
  • The Sultanate of Oman.

The reverse side of the coins bears the following:

  • The category is in Arabic.
  • The category is in English – the word "Bisa" in English.
  • The Hijri and Gregorian calendars in Arabic.
