Egyptian silver piastre coin
An Egyptian silver piaster coin, likely a gift from one soldier to another in 1918 as a good luck charm, was carved with a horse's head and horseshoe (both symbols of good luck) and seven nails (also a sign of good luck) in what is known as "trench art," a common tradition among soldiers during World War I. Incidentally, the coin is incredibly small – only 16 mm in diameter! This presented a significant challenge for the soldier carving it to achieve this result.
