Commemorative coin for the Handball World Cup

During today’s Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Cabinet approved the Prime Minister’s draft resolution regarding the authorization to issue a commemorative silver coin for the 27th Men’s Handball World Championship – Egypt 2021, in the denomination of fifty Egyptian pounds.

The Cabinet issued a decision to mint 1,500 commemorative fifty-pound coins. Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Maait approved the implementation of this decision, and Major General Hossam Khader, Head of the Public Treasury and Mint Authority, oversaw the design and specifications. The coins were minted at the Public Treasury and Mint Authority headquarters. 

Article Two of the decree stipulated that the selling price within the Arab Republic of Egypt for each coin in question would be 485 Egyptian pounds. The decree also specified the coin's design: the obverse features a handball player throwing the ball into a goal, with the words "Handball World Cup" in his hands; the reverse features the handball logo; and the denomination is written in letters.

0.72 g silver, 0.28 g copper

37 millimeters

Thirdly, weight:

25 g

Denmark won the World Men's Handball Championship Egypt 2021, after defeating Sweden 26-24, in the 27th edition of the tournament, which was held in Egypt from January 13 to 31.

The Egyptian national team bid farewell to the 2021 World Men's Handball Championship in the quarter-finals after losing to defending champions Denmark 38-39, following an epic match that went to penalty kicks.
