Palestinian pound strength
The pound had such power in Palestine during the British occupation that Heinrich Himmler, Hitler's right-hand man and his fierce security force, hoarded Palestinian pounds among his wealth along with British, French, and American currencies, gold, and other assets. This is what the Allies found after the fall of Berlin in a box that Himmler had buried in a forest, and its value was estimated at one million dollars (1945 estimate).
