Very few Islamic coins bear a minting date that includes the Arabic month as well as the year. If we look at the Fatimid coinage of the Fatimid state, we will find some very limited issues on which the month is written next to the year. It is most likely that these issues are related to historical events or religious occasions, and we must try to deduce the events and occasions and link them to that coinage, although these conclusions of ours will remain hypotheses that are difficult to confirm.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

If we search for an event associated with the month of Ramadan in the year 359 AH, we will find an important event in the history of the Fatimid state, namely the start of construction Al-Azhar Mosque<\/a> Perhaps those dinars were minted to celebrate this occasion, but I repeat that we cannot confirm that definitively.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
