She was Cleopatra III<\/a> A woman who was difficult to deal with, even by the standards of the Ptolemaic queens who were famous for their strength, thirst for power, and lack of restraint in committing despicable acts in order to dominate. She was the woman who quarreled with her mother and plotted to remove her eldest son and put the youngest in his place to make him easier to control. This youngest then killed her in the end, committing one of the most heinous crimes in the history of the Ptolemaic dynasty. Because the beginnings in the story of Cleopatra are consistent with the endings, and because the lust for power is the strongest of lusts, the reader in our time has no right to be surprised by such heinous crimes.<\/p>\n

Here we present a Ptolemaic silver coin of the tetradrachm denomination, minted in the city of Alexandria.
It was struck a few months before Cleopatra's death.
And it bears witness to one of the manifestations of her dominance over her son and murderer, Ptolemy X<\/p>\n

Let's examine the reverse of the coin.
The piece bears two dates, IC and \u0399\u0393
That is, year 16 and year 13
The first and main date concerns Cleopatra III
The second, shorter, sub-history concerns Ptolemy X.<\/p>\n

This is a clear indication of who the actual ruler of the country is.
From this, we can understand the motives of the man who killed his mother, who discovered that she had seated him beside her on the throne to be a puppet.<\/p>\n
