The celebration of Martyr’s Day coincides with the commemoration of the martyr, Lieutenant General Abdel Moneim Riad, former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, who is one of the most famous military figures in the second half of the twentieth century and is nicknamed the Golden General. Therefore, the National Postal Authority took the initiative to issue two commemorative postage stamps to document this important event.

The design of the first stamp came as a tribute to Lieutenant General Abdel Moneim Riad as one of the most prominent symbols of the Egyptian military. The focus was on the face of the Lieutenant General in military uniform, and the Egyptian flag came in a circular motion to contain the face of Lieutenant General Abdel Moneim Riad, with the flag extending to the top and left of the design to indicate the extension of the many military campaigns and battles that he led. Around the face, there is a group of rays extending in the background of the design to indicate the leadership role that was widespread in many wars, and the color green was used to indicate the good that Lieutenant General Abdel Moneim Riad was the reason for for Egypt. .

The second design symbolizes Egypt’s interest in honoring its martyrs, as the shape of the Unknown Soldier Memorial was used to represent Egypt’s martyrs. The flag is wrapped around the memorial in a circular motion to indicate the state’s embrace and concern for all its martyrs, with rays spreading in the background of the design to indicate the role of each martyr in Egypt.

It is worth noting that the size of each stamp is (3 cm by 5 cm) for each stamp, which is a multi-color offset stamp and is worth 4 pounds.

To mark Martyrs' Day, the National Postal Authority issued a commemorative postage stamp.
