Recently, our curiosity got the better of us, and we eagerly began studying everything related to the coins of Sultan Hussein Kamel, the Sultan of Egypt. What caught our attention and surprised us simultaneously was that most collectors know about the letters HR on silver coins and half-millime coins, but what puzzled us was the presence of the letters JR on the gold hundred-piaster coin\u2026 So who is JR? We have several hypotheses, and we hope that collectors will not withhold any information from us.<\/p>\n
Question 1: Is he John Harvey Rowentree, who used the letters HR for his name on all the coins he minted?<\/p>\n
- Second question: If that's the case, why did JR choose the gold coin? - Or was it carved by another artist? And if so, who is this other person?<\/p>\n
Or does it not mean the artist's name but something else? And in that case, what is that thing?<\/p>\n
Or is it an unintentional error in the coinage, which is unlikely but a possibility that should still be considered?<\/p>\n
