<\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\nIt is noteworthy that the collection does not include any Egyptian medals predating the reign of King Fuad, suggesting that the medals of Khedive Abbas Hilmi, for example, were returned to him as his personal property after his deposition, whether by Sultan Hussein, King Fuad, or even King Farouk. Similarly, there are no gold medals belonging to Khedive Ismail. This partially explains King Farouk's request to have his own collections returned to him after his deposition, following a precedent set in Egypt's history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The author of this post attempted to imagine the shapes of gold medals using Photoshop and based on online images of silver and bronze coins, as well as old books and magazines \u2013 the images attached to this post \u2013 but many, many more could not be found. Perhaps this post is a desperate attempt to document a portion of Egypt's looted treasures\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
