However, a report published in Al-Ahram newspaper on November 23, 2001\u2014nearly 19 years ago\u2014reveals that Ali Najm, the former governor of the Central Bank, stated that it was an experiment worthy of study. He asserted, however, that it couldn&#039;t be implemented nationwide in Egypt due to certain technical factors, which have undoubtedly become less influential over the years. We hope these plastic banknotes will soon see the light of day in collectors&#039; albums, featuring distinctive designs, and that this isn&#039;t just a media hype.
