One of the most significant consequences of epidemics, wars, and disasters in general is "fear," and as we all know, capital is cowardly. Therefore, many people lack confidence in official government documents in such circumstances.

As we know, today all countries in the world are in debt, whether due to struggling economies or because of the aid they decided to provide to those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic recently. We find countries like America, Australia and England providing unprecedented grants worth hundreds of billions. So where does all this money come from?

The following phrase sums up the whole situation: “Banks can’t print gold!” Today, the world’s banks are working day and night – despite the ban – to print banknotes in a scene no less spectacular than the famous series “Money Heist”! All these banknotes have a nominal value that is not backed by the currency, so you find it fluctuating every hour of the day or night, which may lead to unprecedented global economic inflation.

But unlike banknotes, we all know that the world's gold and silver reserves are limited! However, there is a fundamental difference between gold and silver. Gold is extracted specifically for investment and for the manufacture of jewelry, alloys, etc. – while silver is considered a derivative element that comes out of the earth during the mining of lead, copper, and other important industrial metals. In addition, silver has industrial uses. For example, modern solar panels contain about 20 grams of silver each, in addition to silver being used in the manufacture of modern cars. Statistics estimate that about 80% of these quantities of "industrial" silver end up with the waste of solar panels and cars and are not recycled.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block; text-align:center;"
     data-ad-layout="in-article"
     data-ad-format="fluid"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-6346087148954344"
     data-ad-slot="1339252815"></ins>

However, due to the halt in manufacturing at most global factories, this in turn led to a decrease in demand for silver and consequently its price – while the price of gold rose due to investor fears… But this, in turn, led to an important result, which is the crux of the matter:

The price of an ounce of gold today is equivalent to approximately 113 ounces of silver. This is an unprecedented ratio between the two metals. Gold is typically about 50 times the price of silver (it was 16 times in 1968), which has led many investors to buy silver in any quantity they can. From their perspective (and I reiterate, we are only presenting an opinion here and do not claim it is correct!), one of two things will happen before the end of the year: either the price of silver will catch up with gold and double until the ratio between the two metals returns to a ratio close to 50:1, which is more likely, or the price of gold will fall significantly, in which case the gold investment phase will begin. On another note, Bank of America issued a report four days ago indicating that the price of silver is expected to rise by 33% before the end of the year.

Generally, investors have always agreed on the importance of diversification. Therefore, it might be advisable for coin collectors, for example, to pay attention to the prices of coins minted specifically for investment in metals, often referred to as "bullions." Most Western countries issue these coins. For instance, the American eagle coin, produced in the United States, weighs one ounce and its multiples (known in Egypt as "the bride"). These coins generally have little intrinsic value. Canada has the maple leaf coin, Australia has the kangaroo and kookaburra coins, England has the British pound, South Africa has the Krugerrand coin, Austria has the Philharmonic coin, China issues panda coins, and Mexico issues the Libertad coin. The price of most of these coins today is around twenty dollars per ounce (31 grams of silver, slightly more than royal riyals, but with a silver content of 999.9%, while Egyptian royal silver coins have 83.3%).

It is just information, after all, as no one can be certain of knowing the future, but we wanted to present it to the reader of “Al-Muqtani Al-Arabi” as a topic worthy of discussion.

Moheb Rizkalla

I don't claim to know much about finance, profits, and investment in general – so I ask the reader to keep all of this in mind when reading this topic, as it is merely a suggestion that some voices abroad are raising, which may be right or wrong...
